Shakespeare's Lady by Alexa Schnee

Emilia Bassano was sent to court to be one of the Ladies in Waiting for the Virgin Queen.  She was given to Henry Carey, one of the queen's advisors, for his pleasure while he was at court. When she became pregnant, a marriage was arranged for her with Alfonso Lanier, a musician that traveled the country playing with his troupe.
Alfonso and Shakespeare were friends, and he came to their home to visit, and before long Emilia and William were having an affair, which lasted for years.

OK, so here are my thoughts on this book, it is well written, the author created a good story.  But, I felt it was a bit drawn out, and a bit too much was put into the affairs of court, and heart.

I was given a copy of this book by Guideposts to read and review, no other compensation was given.  I am not required to give a favorable review.  The opinions expressed here are my own, and may not reflect other readers opinions.
