Pretty Woman by Fern Michaels

When Rosie Gardener married Kent Bliss, she had turned her back on her best friend,
Vickie Winters, who told her she was making a big mistake. Now, 3 years later, Rosie had her eyes opened to what Kent was really like. When he didn't show up for their anniversary dinner, she'd had enough, and kicked him out.

Shortly thereafter, she reads in the paper that Vickie is back in Savannah, and makes arrangements to speak to her. They pick up their business right where Vickie had left off, when she'd left town.

Rosie decides to go to work on her weight, which has ballooned during her marriage. Her housekeeper hires Jack Silver as a personal trainer for Rosie, and soon her weight is dropping. And her attraction for Silver is giving her a reason to keep going. He convinces her to train for a race that will happen in the fall, and she decides to gife it a go, and also decides it is time to file for divorce.

Someone, breaks into her home, not once, but at least twice, searching for the Lottery ticket that they think she has, which is worth Millions. Then her purse is searched, and a gun is taken from Jack's car, while they are canoeing at the river. She knows it is Kent, who suspects she has won the lottery, and wants his half, or maybe the whole thing.

This book is quite interesting,and builds to a surprise ending, at least to me.

Purchased a couple of books today

I'm out of reading material, and didn't feel like driving to the library, where I usually go. So while we were out and about today, I found 2 books that sounded interesting, and I'll read them, then donate them to the care center, for others to read. Many of the older citizens can't afford to buy books, so passing them along for their reading pleasure may help.

Ghostwriter by Eve Gladstone

When Kim Killian heard that the book she had ghost written for Ben Soares, had won an award, she was both thrilled and saddened. Thrilled that her work had won an award, and saddened that no one would ever know she had written 'Lucky Lady'.

Then Ben Soares is found murdered in her garden, before he could accept the award. And the man she found rifling through her apartment, was best friends with Tony Dalrymple, son of the subject of the book, Lucky Anne Severance. Shortly afterward, Tony was found murdered, and Kim was the last person known to have seen him alive.

Kim and Conor Stark, go looking to solve the mystery of why everyone researching Lucky's death, runs into trouble.

A good book for a rainy evening, not too deep, but interesting.

Labor Day Weekend

It's that time of year, again. Summer has been pleasant, for the most part, rain and cooler weather than normal.

a small butterfly was sipping on the nectar of the wildflowers.

Wish I had been able to get a little closer.

Life has changed

We are no longer keeping grandkids as much, since school has started, and all the grands are now in school. Jd loves school, we really worried about him, as he didn't seem interested at all. When we would try talking to him, he would tell us, "I don't want to talk about it".
Skylar loved it for the first few weeks, then suddenly decided she didn't. She had a rough week, last week, and drove her mom to distraction, trying to get her over the 'crying'. So far, this week, she is happy, again.
Stephen, well he always loves school, and is loved by all his teachers.

That I have managed to get rid of all the trash postings that showed up for awhile.
Hopefully they have moved on to other things, like jumping off bridges into dry creekbeds.

Uninvited Guests

Don't you wish they would stay home?

Snow, rain, hail, and 60 degrees

Our weather has been wild the last two weeks. On Tuesday morning, March 4th, we had snow, about 4 inches here, but 35 miles west, they had 12 inches on the ground. On the 5th, we had 60 degrees and sunshine, so most of our snow disappeared quickly, the rest by afternoon. Then on March 6th, snow, again, about 4 more inches, The town west of us got another 12 inches. The grandkids just loved the snow, and the dogs were not adverse to a game of chase through the white stuff.

This week, on Wednesday, we woke up to about 2.5 inches of rain, in the rain guage. Last night at about 1:00am, we had lightning and thunder close by, and hail fell for about 5 minutes, sounded as if it were going to come through the roof. BuddybooWhodini does not like thunderstorms so he woke me to hold him until it passed.

Maybe in another week, we can get our cabbage and onions planted,

and we will have warmer weather.

I'm Back......

Finally, after a long absence. I just haven't felt like blogging, so much has been going on, lately.
Christmas ended, and then January hit, and Jerry and I decided to get a wood permit, and cut a couple of winters worth of wood while the cutting was good. So far, we have cut 3 1/2 cord, and plan on cutting at least another half cord, before we quit. We've been lucky, only had one flat, and that happened as we were leaving town toward home. Julie's boss sent the service truck, since we were loaded down, and the guy fixed it for us. Thanks 'Julie's Boss'.
We've got Julie's cabinet carcasses almost finished, will do the face frames when they get ready to tear out the old cabinets.
Thats about our update for now. I'll try and not wait so long to post again.

Well, it's almost Christmas

In fact, we will be having our Christtmas with all the kids, tonight at David's and Robin's house. I made a cake, Kim is making the bread, Julie will be making cheese dip, with chips. And Robin is making Mexican Chicken and baked potatoes.

We bought our Christmas yesterday, I guess. We went to an auction of a cabinet shop, and bought some really nice lumber, plywood, and cabinet blanks. I also got a large amount of plastic laminate, some is large sheets, other is not that wide, but enough to do a cabinet top. I guess we will be building a few cabinets to recoup our investment. Julie needs new cabinets, and I'm sure we can make a few other things and sell them.

Poinsetta arrrangement

I had a couple of bunches of poinsetta flowers, so decided to do an arrangement.

It is about 24 inches or so, in size. I took the picture after dark, and in the garage, so it isn't

the best, but I thin it turned out ok.

Mannfred

at 6 weeks and 5 days, he is one fearless 1 1/2 pound hound, lol.

He is an attack dog, just ask his mommy.

Sadness and Soap

My sister, Belinda, lost her baby today, Lil-Bit was a 7 year old Chihuahua-Rat Terrier mix, who she had gotten when LB was about 4 or so weeks old. Lil-bit didn't know she was a dog, and today a large dog got loose from it's chain, and came over to their yard. It grabbed LB and crushed her chest, while Belinda was doing everything in her power to distract, and pull the dog off. The owners have agreed to pay the vet bill and the cremation cost. If it were me, I'd have insisted on calling the police.





I made Gingersnap soap yesterday, and today I made Peppermint Orange soap today. Looks like I may need to make more, as I've got several interested in purchasing it. I made 20 bars in gingerbread man shape, and I think I'll have about 18 Christmas trees out of the peppermint.

Summer

Summer has turned very hot, our temps are up to 104 degrees today. It makes for miserable days for kids who wish they could play outside.

Jd found a small puppy out back about a month ago, and named him FLASH. He moved in, and has become a very active member of the family, with all the kids enjoying him. He has been doing pretty well on his potty training, and is growing pretty quickly. I don't know exactly how large he will be.

Then, about 2 weeks ago, a cream colored Shepard showed up in the neighborhood, and seems to think she lives here, too. Jd named her Goldie...We are still trying to decide whether she is staying, or if we will have to find another home for her. I guess it depends on her, and how she manages to get along with everyone.

Stephen and Skylar both start school next week. Stephen will be in 2nd grade at MPS campus, and Mrs. Driggers will be his teacher, he goes to meet her tonight. Skylar starts at what was Mrs. Turners on Monday, too. I don't know for sure what it is being called, since it is now run by Mrs. Turner's daughter. Will have to get the name and number, so that I can call, if I need to get in touch. Julie will be picking Skylar up, because she gets off work at about the time that Skylar gets out of school.

The garden did well, until the weather got dry, and now there is nothing left. The melons , which looked so good about 2 weeks ago, now are withered and drying up. Oh well, next year will maybe be different.

Chiggers and ticks and mosquitos, oh my

We managed to get into some chiggers during the fishing trip, yesterday. At least the kids did, and dh managed to get some ticks, somewhere. I had sprayed the kids with repellant before leaving, and took the bottle with us. I tried to watch where they stepped, at the river, but I guess it only takes one little brush with a leaf or stick that has chiggers on it, to get a full crop of them. Next time we go, I will take the 'power' spray, I don't think this worked too well.
Today, it was mosquitos that tried to eat us up. And then, at 11:50am, our power went off, when a tree fell on the power line about a mile from our house. It took them 4 hrs to get it fixed, and that was during the hottest part of the day. We survived, and the kids actually enjoyed their time with ice packs. They did ask to go to their room and watch tv, since the big one wasn't working, lol. And kept asking if we could turn the air back on, as they were getting warm.
